In CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) V 4.0, in
semester 4 there are 8 chapters, I think that all the chapter are equally
important. Here we’ll discuss some important for skill practice question of
chapter 7. Actually the semester 4 is named as Accessing the WAN. Here
WAN= Wide Area
Network
And chapter 7 of this semester is named as IP Addressing
Services. In this chapter mainly DHCP and NAT is discussed. Here DHCP and NAT
means:
DHCP=Dynamic Host
Configuration Protocol
NAT=Network Address
Translation
Generally DHCP configuration is not so tough. We all
generally in a small network, assign ip address statically, but in a big
network, where there are thousands of PC and similar end device stays, then it
will be difficult for you to assign IP address manually, If you going to assign
IP address manually, then there may be a possibility of having wrong, and if
you do wrong then it will be difficult to identify that place where you have
done problem. So in that type of case, you may use DHCP, because it will assign
IP address dynamically. In this way you may restrict the IP address which you
don’t want to assign through dynamically.
In this chapter there is also discussed NAT (Network address
translation). In this chapter NAT overload and NAT basic configuration also
discussed. Generally, NAT is an important topic in the case of data forwarding
using any network, because if the data can’t be translated into network, then
there will be a big problem arise. So this is so important for a network and a
network engineer is also need to be careful about it.
Here generally all the topics and are calculated in IPv4.
But there is also IPv6, which is a much growing technology. It is said that we
must need to switch in IPv6 after some days, because in the present word the
number of internet users are increasing day by day. And IPv4 can’t support this
growing so many users. So for the bless of mankind, and give support to the
increasing number of users IPv6 is discovered. Here so many host is used. And
sometimes it is said that, the subnetting we do in IPv4 is sometimes May not
necessary, as there will be a huge number of hosts. To know IPv6 you must study
a lot, different source are available in the internet for the study of IPv6.
Also you may glad to know that, in this chapter you may also find IPv6 basic
knowledge. Here I’m providing you a slide on chapter 7. You may download and
study it and gain so many knowledge about DHCP and NAT.
So best of luck and have a nice day. Thank you for reading
